The ABB FIA Formula E Championship has released the first-ever pictures of their second-generation car, which will make it’s debut at the start of season five.
Interestingly, this futuristic looking racer is the first car ever to be created by the governing body for motorsport, the FIA. To create the concept they brought together some of the world’s top designers and engineers.
As you would expect from an updated design, the performance has been significantly enhanced, with the new car offering double the energy storage capacity and double the range. Cars will now be able to finish a full race without the need for a car swap part way through. Oh, and they’re also faster, which is fun.
The car represents how much Formula E has evolved and the advancements in battery and electric motor technology achieved in just four years.
A physical model of the second-generation Formula E car will be on show at the Geneva Motor Show on 6th March 2018.
