Vauxhall has revealed images of its new Insignia GSi, which is set to debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The latest high-performance model has a new chassis, a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, Brembo brakes and all-wheel drive. As for the transmission, the Insignia GSi has an eight-speed automatic gearbox that can be operated using a paddle-shift which can be located on the steering wheel.
The Insignia’s new mechatronic FlexRide chassis can optimise the steering and suspension instantaneously. The chassis control unit will be able to adjust the steering and throttle response to suit the circumstances.
Drivers will be able to choose from four different driving modes. The first three key driving options are Standard, Tour and Sport, but Vauxhall has developed a very special fourth setting exclusively for the GSi named ‘Competition’. Activating this mode switches traction control off allowing able drivers to push the vehicle to its full potential.
The Insignia GSi’s 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 260PS generating 400Nm of torque. The four cylinder engine will be attached to the all-new eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the driver will be able to manually set the shift points of the system in standard and sports modes to suit their needs.
Design wise the interior will feature AGR-certified sports seats, a leather steering wheel and aluminium pedals. As for the exterior, you will find a GSi logo located at the rear of the car which also carries a spoiler to assist with downforce. Lastly, the rear features two chrome-edged exhaust pipes, while chrome air intakes can be found near the front wheels.
