Mitsubishi’s new Shogun Sport, which goes on sale in the UK in Spring, will be priced from £36,905. This latest 4×4 offering supposedly “combines luxurious space for up to seven people with outstanding versatility and practicality”. Sounds good, right?

There will be two trim options available: the Shogun Sport 3 and Shogun Sport 4. Both options come with a smart all-wheel-drive system (Super Select II), hill descent control, trailer start assist (TSA), hill start assist (HSA), and a dedicated off-road mode, as standard.

Both Shogun Sport’s are equipped with an all-aluminium, 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 181hp and 430Nm of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Auto Express claimed that the 2017 Shogun Sport engine was “gruff and noisy, both at idle and under acceleration”. So let’s hope that the Japanese manufacturer has made improvements in that area with the all-new sports models.

This seven-seater boasts 1,488 litres of space with the rear seat folded, making it a perfect vehicle for transporting large objects around if necessary. The inside of this off-roader also sounds like a nice place to be with inclusive features such as leather upholstery, electrically-adjustable front seats, and dual-zone climate control.

Tech-wise, the Shogun Sport is kitted out with Mitsubishi’s Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) system which allows users to connect to apps or other features of their Apple or Android smartphone through the touchscreen. Moreover, the four by four comes with rear parking sensors, keyless entry, and push-button start.

The Shogun 4, which is the more premium trim option, is priced from £38,905. For an extra two grand, compared to the Shogun 3, you will get yourself heated front seats, a buffed up sound system, driver assistance systems, and some really high-tech parking sensors.

The Shogun Sport will come with a five year (62,500 mile) warranty which adds that extra peace of mind for buyers. Also, all Shogun Sport variants are available in three metallic shades – Deep Bronze, Atlantic Grey and Sterling Silver – plus pearlescent Imperial Red and solid Polar White. Cosmos Black pearlescent paint is also exclusive to the top-of-the-range version.
