Polestar, Volvo Cars’ performance partner, has announced that their first car, the Polestar 1, is now available for pre-ordering in 18 countries around the world. The car made it’s first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show 2018, showcasing it’s sleek and sporty design.
The 18 countries in which the car can be pre-ordered include the United Kingdom, China, United States, Sweden, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada.
“With over 7,000 people interested in owning a Polestar 1 since its reveal, we are extremely encouraged by the passion shown for our product. We will now take the next steps towards delivering this beautiful car to our first customers,” – Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar.
It’s an exciting time for the performance brand who will want to enter the market with a solid product. After all, they will be competing against all the other manufacturers looking to claim the hybrid/electric vehicle (EV) throne ahead of a future that is likely to be dominated by EV’s.
The Polestar 1 is a high-performance hybrid GT coupé which produces 600 horsepower (608PS) and 1000 Nm of torque. Supposedly, it will offer 150 km (93.2 miles) of “pure electric driving range” which is longer than any other hybrid car in the world.
Anyone interested in pre-ordering a Polestar 1 will need to put down a fully-refundable €2,500 ($2,500; 20,000RMB) deposit, which will serve as a placeholder in the queue for one of the cars.
